Framed Succulent Cluster
My goal with this series is to replicate the unique beauty of blooming flowers with such detail they no longer remind viewers of glass, but of the emotions that come from catching a real flower in full bloom. All while maintaining that perfect bloom indefinitely. Plants have a way of brightening our surroundings, unfortunately their beauty tends to wax and wayne over time. This series is my attempt to freeze a moment in time, to preserve its beauty to enjoy time and time again.
Hand sculpted from borosilicate glass, each and every petal and bud is blown individually before being constructed into a complete succulent. Each succulent is then mounted to a hand formed glass frame creating the final arrangement, and solidifying dozens of individually blown parts into one piece of solid glass. The clear glass frame is mounted inside a solid wood frame and ready to display.
The extraordinary part of these clusters, and what sets them apart in my eye, is they way the succulents are budding out and over the wood frame just like a real plant out growing its pot.
